As many of you out there have heard, Banksy's 'Exit Through The Gift Shop' is slated to drop in the US, Dec 14th. It has also been confirmed that the US release will include the limited extras that were seen in the UK version...NICE! And yes, Thierry Guetta's aka Mr Brainwash 'Life Remote Control (Lawyer's Edit)' is in fact, included in the DVD extra's...hmmm, I wonder what kind of crazy sh!t the guys have gotten themselves into.

VANDALIZED CHICAGO BANKSY PIECE GETS A FACE-LIFT

In an earlier post, I reported that Banksy's 'You Concrete Me' piece (in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood) was vandalized by a local 'crew'. It is quite clear that a segment of Chicagoan's were strongly opposed to the anti-Banksy graffiti. This morning, in the wee hours, a 3-good Samaritans, paint & wax pen in hand, made the needed repairs to the stone-faced Banksy.
Banksy fans across the globe can now raise a pint to the awesome persons responsible for the face-lift.

CHICAGO BANKSY PIECE GETS DEFACED BY LOCAL CREW

Never mind worrying about the good ole' Mayor Daley & his merry band of Po-Po buffing the few Chicago Banksy pieces out, worry about the locals!

Banksy's "you concrete my" piece in the Pilsen, Chicago neighborhood was destroyed late last night. BANKSSUCK was sprayed across one side of the humorous image, as well as whiting-out the word 'concrete' in the dialogue bubble. I can only imagine that the vandals possibly intended on ad-libbing some of Banksy's dialogue.

The crew believed responsible for this act seems to have given themselves credit, but I won't print their name here. You can see for yourself, look closely. And we Chicagoian's wonder why Banksy and other internationally well known artists fly past us on their travels? Bummer, dudes, bummer.

CHICAGO DATE ANNOUNCED FOR BANKYs 'EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP'

After killin' it at the Sundance Film Festival & very tight worldwide viewings to date, US Tour Dates have finally been announced for BANKYs "Exit Through The Gift Shop" and I'm shocked as shit to see that we will get to see it here, in Chicago (April 23rd). There's some pretty broad distribution so far, more dates are said to be announced, stay tuned.

BRAD & ANGELINA CALLING IT QUITS...WHO GETS THE BANKSY?!

So, according to every tabloid-rag & gossip television show out there...Brad and Angie are calling it quits. Really, who cares? The only thing that I am remotely concerned in is "who the fuck is gonna get the 2-million dollar Banksy painting Brad bought?!"
It's believed that Brangelina purchased the Banksy painting of 'the King of Pop' trying to lure 2 little kids into his house with a piece of candy.

BANKSY FILM 'EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP' 2010 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Banksy drops a new film "Exit Through The Gift Shop'...a documentary. He unveils the flick at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah January 24th. Word on the street is that 'Exit Through...' is SICK!
The Banksy website is up, but there isn't a whole lot happening yet...keep checking back.

THOM YORKE X BANKSY X RAYMOND SALVATORE HARMON

(I posted this back in Sept 09 and it seems Mr. Yorke had all unauthorized video releases yanked, thanks buddy!)...A graffiti montage featuring Radiohead's Thom Yorke. Raymond Salvatore Harmon directs 'Hollow Earth' and has been set to Banksy images.

MASSIVE ATTACK X 3D

Massive Attack EP- 10.05.09

Lead track 'Splitting The Atom' features D, G and Horace Andy, while TV On The Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe guests on 'Pray For Rain'. The EP also has remixes of two new tracks. 'Psyche' featuring Martina Topley-Bird mixed by Van Rivers & The Subliminal Kid, while the Guy Garvey fronted 'Bulletproof Love' is stripped back to a minimalist reworking by Christoff Berg.
The band will release their fifth studio album in February 2010. Massive Attack collaborate with Damon Albarn, Hope Sandoval, Martina Topley-Bird, Guy Garvey and Tunde Adebimpe on the forth coming album release.

The founding member of Massive Attack, Robert Del Naja aka 3D's paintings and graphic design works have represented the music of his band for over a decade, from the symbolic cover art of Blue Lines and Protection.
Before Massive Attack, 3D was one the UKs pioneering graffiti artists and ran with the notorious Wild Bunch crew of the 1980s.
Lazarides gallery hosted a 3D 'War Stories' exhibition in March & April of '08. 3D has also collabed with James LaVelle of UNKLE & Mo' Wax fame.

DASH SNOW: NYC ARISTIST, 27 AND DEAD

Dash Snow, NYC rock-star photographer & artist, dead of a heroine overdose at 27. He was also a graffiti writer (aka SACER) who ran with the infamous NYC IRAK CREW.

"His death has shocked anyone who had any contact with him or knew his work. The drugs were all there in the artwork (and the rumours), but so was a sense of real beauty and honesty. RUN, BLAGO, RUN by CRO aka RAY NOLAND

OK, OK, so I lifted the attached story from the Chicago Tribune online. The original author writes like both he and his readers hail from Mars or some other planet or suburb, far, far away. He suggests that the Blago stencil-graffiti has gotten to an almost viral stage...just because it's up in at least 6 reported spots in Chicago...EWWWW, scarey! The image I've included is from the corner of Hubbard and May Streets, Chicago.
The 'alleged' artist that has sprayed and pasted the 'Run, Blago, Run' is Chicago's very own CRO aka Ray Noland. He currently has a group show that ends later this month titled Officially Unofficial at the Chicago Tourism Center on Randolph Street. This show is a collection of Obama related artworks and prints that supported Obama, pre-election. Works by The Date Farmers, Ron English, Obey, Bask, Cody Hudson and many, many more artists can be seen. I highly recommend checking this gig out, while it lasts.

A mysterious mural has turned up on a half-dozen concrete walls around the city in recent weeks. The black graffiti stencil shows former Gov. Rod Blagojevich wearing his familiar tracksuit, running through the street and glancing over his shoulder, as if he is being pursued. The image leaves it to the viewer to speculate about who is trailing Blago -- U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald, perhaps?

Reminiscent of the work of Banksy, the London street artist, and Shepard Fairey aka Obey, the creator of the Barack Obama Hope poster, the Blago stencil began appearing in early April. It has been spotted in a downtown alley behind the Macy's on State Street and on a viaduct at the corner of West 16th Street and South Union Avenue.

Like most street art, the creator leaves no signature. (The practice is illegal, after all.) But Pilsen artist Ray Noland aka CRO, 36, is currently selling a first-edition poster of the image titled "Run, Blago, Run!" for $75 on his Web site, cro.bigcartel.com. Noland -- who ran an unofficial Obama street art campaign last year -- declined to comment on how his Blago design ended up on the street and suggested that anyone could have appropriated his image. "I just make the graphics," he said.

However, Noland did hint that urbanities should keep their eyes open for more images, which he predicted "will probably continue to pop up around the city."
