Faile released a new print this afternoon, "Warriors of the Night" -an edition of 24...yes, just freakin' 24! They've also released a few originals from the Lost in Glimmering Shadows series and a new Sex Ad. All were available on their site: http://www.faile.net/...yes, WERE! Like all Faile gear, they get released, they get sold, in seconds flat. Along with the new works on paper, they also released 2 fresh sculptures today. The 1st is a bronze Scuba Horse (seen below), a piece that’s been long in the works with Raneri Sculpture Casting and sculpture Charlie Becker. These sons of bitches will set you back twelve-thousand-dollars...US! Only 8 of these are being released. One will be released today and the rest through email request as the edition is completed. Faile also released a new version of Bronze Bunny Boy (that is so sold out!), the 2nd in the bronze series sporting a lusty British Racing Green patina.

Those of you that know The Wooster Collective will recognize this as the facade and once home of Marc & Sara aka The Wooster Collective NYC a few years back. Today we will be releasing our first limited edition hand-built book Love Sour Love. Started back in 2005 by the guys at Faile, this book has finally come to realization this past summer with a range of works being submitted over the span of those 4 years. This book is a limited edition of 80 hand-built books.
The premise of the book is simple. A handful of artists from across the globe were invited to submit four handmade pages representing their interpretation of the theme "love sour love". The only guidance provided was a strict color pallet of black, white, and any shade of green they found appropriate. The result is a book full of varied printing styles and paper textures.

A few images from NYCs OG graffiti artist DAIN. Brooklyn's DAIN has been doing graffiti since the 50's and has recently shown at the Brooklynite Gallery.
OK, OK, so I lifted the attached story from the Chicago Tribune online. The original author writes like both he and his readers hail from Mars or some other planet or suburb, far, far away. He suggests that the Blago stencil-graffiti has gotten to an almost viral stage...just because it's up in at least 6 reported spots in Chicago...EWWWW, scarey! The image I've included is from the corner of Hubbard and May Streets, Chicago. The 'alleged' artist that has sprayed and pasted the 'Run, Blago, Run' is Chicago's very own CRO aka Ray Noland. He currently has a group show that ends later this month titled Officially Unofficial at the Chicago Tourism Center on Randolph Street. This show is a collection of Obama related artworks and prints that supported Obama, pre-election. Works by The Date Farmers, Ron English, Obey, Bask, Cody Hudson and many, many more artists can be seen. I highly recommend checking this gig out, while it lasts. The black graffiti stencil shows former Gov. Rod Blagojevich wearing his familiar tracksuit, running through the street and glancing over his shoulder, as if he is being pursued. The image leaves it to the viewer to speculate about who is trailing Blago -- U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald, perhaps?
Reminiscent of the work of Banksy, the London street artist, and Shepard Fairey aka Obey, the creator of the Barack Obama Hope poster, the Blago stencil began appearing in early April. It has been spotted in a downtown alley behind the Macy's on State Street and on a viaduct at the corner of West 16th Street and South Union Avenue.
Like most street art, the creator leaves no signature. (The practice is illegal, after all.) But Pilsen artist Ray Noland aka CRO, 36, is currently selling a first-edition poster of the image titled "Run, Blago, Run!" for $75 on his Web site, cro.bigcartel.com. Noland -- who ran an unofficial Obama street art campaign last year -- declined to comment on how his Blago design ended up on the street and suggested that anyone could have appropriated his image. "I just make the graphics," he said.
However, Noland did hint that urbanities should keep their eyes open for more images, which he predicted "will probably continue to pop up around the city."

As a founding member of the artist collective FAILE, formed in 1999, AIKO helped fuel the current wave of global contemporary street art with spontaneous wheatpastings and stenciling in numerous world capitals. The artist launched a solo career in 2006 with works on canvas that incorporate collage, stenciling, brushwork, spray paint, and serigraphy. This bricolage technique perfectly suits AIKO’s eclectic practice—a voracious mash-up of Japanese and American pop culture, including comics, children’s book illustrations, advertising, classic movie posters, and soft-core pornography.
AIKO draws inspiration from the urban street, Kawaii culture (“cute” in Japanese), and globalized depictions of female sexuality. While a Media Studies student at New School University in New York, she hid her art in plain sight by wheatpasting images throughout the city. It was then that she developed a signature synthesis of commercial graphics, sexual imagery, and the vocabularies of seduction and fantasy found in print, film, and electronic media. The implied decay of the graffiti-style works reads not only as autobiography but also as a subtle breakdown of surrounding structures. 'Welcome to the Planet of Lady A', for example, features a provocative soft-porn image silkscreened onto a window, all elements reclaimed from cultural and literal junk heaps.
Like Warhol in the ’70s, AIKO embraces silkscreen techniques as the ultimate (and seemingly timeless) signifier of the contemporary. 'Madam Butterfly' elegantly combines a reproduced newspaper image with collaged decorative motifs, masking and transforming the identity of the painting’s female subject. In the show’s title work, 'Love Monster', the artist layers nude nymphets holding spray paint with the recurring tags “King” and “Knights” to capture not only the relational aesthetics of the day but also contemporary culture’s relative ethics. Here and elsewhere, her visual language borrows from fairytales and pulp fiction—virgins and vixens—exploring themes of romance, morality, and religion. Yet AIKO’s energetic works eschew judgment in favor of something more generative, a pop-culture phoenix rising from the real and virtual ashes of the urban street.
AIKO (Nakagawa)’s debut solo exhibition, 'Shut Up & Look', took place at Brooklynite Gallery in 2008.
