DIZZEE RASCAL feat CALVIN HARRIS: DANCE WIV ME

A chipper lil' ditty about a boy and his crush...featuring The Ministry of Sound's Calvin Harris.

NOUVELLE VAGUE vs JEAN-LUC GODARD

Nouvelle Vague's 'Dance With Me' mashed-up with the classic dancing scene from Jean-Luc Godard's crime comedy Bande a Part. It so impressed Quentin Tarantino that he named his movie production company, "A Band Apart", after the film and referenced it in Pulp Fiction. Godard later said that he would much rather Tarantino had just given him a lot of money instead. Bande a Part was released in the US as Band of Outsiders.

REVOK1: TRIBUTE TO IRAK CREWs SACE

Graffiti artist REVOK1 has posted a sick tribute to NYCs IRAK CREWs dearly departed Dash Snow aka SACE.

NOW THAT'S AWKWARD! HUGH JACKMAN, INTERUPTED

During a recent performance of Broadway's A Steady Rain, some dorks ringing cellphone interrupted Hugh Jackman, mid-sentence. The retard's cell rang on and on and on. Hugh & Daniel Craig asked the dork in the audience to either answer his phone and turn it off, yet he was so shit-faced stupid that he would not or could not kill the phone.
Shaky footage of Hugh Jackman's and Daniel Craig's angry, in-character demands for silence was captured by what appears to be the video-capable cell phone of another inconsiderate audience member.
Know what would've been cool? I once saw Ted Nugent perform in '82, there was a dumb-ass in the audience that insisted in badgering Ted Nugent frontman...and when he had had enough of that shithead's antics, Ted (what is his real name, anyways?) tossed his guitar to a roadie, picked up the mic-stand and pounded the asshole's face over and over and over. He then leaped offstage and beat the poop out of the bewildered dork. The crowd roared with approval as the bleeding audience member was dragged out of the arena. I miss those days!

KEVING CYR: KICKSTARTER CAMPER KART PROJECT

Kevin Cyr has another killer project that he's working on and is looking for donations and support via KICKSTARTER.

The CAMPER KART is a pop-up camper affixed to a shopping cart. It's a functioning sculptural piece that seeks to explore aspects of housing, mobility, and autonomy. It is also largely about self-reliance and making do with less. He's always been interested in bikes and vehicles and for many years they have been the subject of Kevin's paintings. His paintings document odd and derelict vehicles: old delivery trucks inundated with graffiti and rust, well-traveled RVs, Indian rickshaws and Asian bikes.

BROOKLYNs 'THE NATIONAL' w/ MATTHEW RITCHIE COLLAB AT B.A.M.

Quoting The National: "Hi everyone! We wanted to let you know that tickets have gone on-sale today for the "The Long Count" at Brooklyn Academy of Music on October 28th, 30th and 31st. The Long Count is a collaboration between Aaron and Bryce Dessner and the artist Matthew Ritchie. The 70-minute piece features an animated film by Ritchie, a 14 piece ensemble and songs developed with Matt Berninger, Kim & Kelley Deal (Pixies/ Breeders) and Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond). The piece is loosely based on the Mayan creation myth Popol Vuh which features twin brothers. We hope you'll come check it out! You can find information and tickets here."

Quoting BAM: "In an inspired collision of creative worlds, three inexhaustibly original artists—brothers Bryce Dessner and Aaron Dessner of indie rock royalty The National and omnivorous visual art phenomenon Matthew Ritchie—combine talents to create a song-filled myth about the beginning of time. A feast of images, instrumentals, and songs thick with primordial mystery, The Long Count pairs Ritchie's protean forms with a twelve-piece orchestra and the Dessners' gothic mix of electric and orchestral sounds."

BROTHERS QUAY: INSTITUTE BENJAMENTA 'CLASSROOM DANCE'

The Brothers Quay are always a few cents short of a dollar and this clip doesn't argue that fact.
'Based on the writings of Swiss author Robert Walser, this beautifully dark film combines fantasy and fairytale, telling the story of a boarding school for servants. Photographed by cinematographer Nic Knowland, the academy's hallowed halls are dull and drab, and the students spend their days repeating a single lesson. When Jakob (Mark Rylance) enrolls in the school, he becomes enmeshed in the lives of the strange siblings who run it'.

LLIK YOUR IDOLS: THE EMBARRASSING OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY

So, you've rented 'Kill Your Idols', the rockumentary of 30 years & 13 bands, now do yourself a favor and rent 'Llik You Idols'...a shocking look at the fucked-up'd underbelly of the New York film noir/ music scene. Now, let me warn you, this ain't no 'feel-good' flick and it isn't going give you 'the warm fuzzies' either, but you should probably try to sit through it, none the less...after all, for every success story, there's always a trail of bodies.
Now, let's see what the 'suits' over at NetFlix have to say: A definite important Director Angélique Bosio captures the nihilist, sexually charged furor of the 'Cinema of Transgression', a 1980s underground movement defined by the low-budget 8mm films of a group of New York City artists, such as Richard Kern and Nick Zedd. In addition to film excerpts, photos and performance clips, this documentary features interviews with both filmmakers and their No Wave musical counterparts, including Thurston Moore and Richard Hell.

Kill Your Idols a Rock-Doc

An extremely important Rock-Doc that chronicles 30 Years. 13 bands. 1 city. 'KILL YOUR IDOLS' An overview of NYC's art-punk music scene beginning with Suicide, covering the No-Wave movement (Teenage Jesus & The Jerks/Lydia Lunch, DNA, Theoretical Girls, etc.), the 80's post punk scene (Sonic Youth, Swans, etc.), and stopping in 2002 to showcase bands like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, Black Dice, Gogol Bordello, A.R.E. Weapons, and others.

MACHINE GIRL: JAPANESE SCHOOL GIRL + MACHINE GUNS vs YAKUZA

Japanese school girls, machine guns, Yakuza, glutenous revenge slayings...this is what I call a must-see flick! I just NetFlix'd me a copy and moved it to the top of my queue!

Synopsis: While seeking revenge for her little brother's murder, Japanese schoolgirl Ami (Minase Yashiro) loses an arm to yakuza villains. Her plight prompts a pair of friendly mechanics to furnish our heroine with a butt-kicking machine-gun prosthesis. As the determined Ami sacrifices more limbs, she receives stronger and deadlier upgrades in this outrageous gore-filled slasher from director Noboru Iguchi.
