Damien Tran

Although I'm not entirely sure, I'm thinking that Damien is either from or near Germany (based on the fact that most of his shows seem to be in German gallery spaces). Geographic location doesn't matter much, because Damien Tran's body or work is bangin'!

Eroné

Northern France is home of their 4th largest city, Lille. Lille is also the home-base for an extremely talented artist by the name of Eroné. Eroné's figures have an almost religious quality about them, with prayers and meditations seeming to be the primary thread running through them. He does a great deal of screen print on paper but, is no stranger to wood, whether carved or assembled.

I recommend perusing his Flickr HERE and his website HERE

Sean Penn-A Body Double For Robert Smith of The Cure?

No, Sean Penn won't be playing Robert Smith of The Cure in an autobiographical film. Sean's actually starring in the 2011 release of his newest project "This Must Be The Place". Sean portrays a jaded and bored rock star, on the hunt for his fathers murderer...who's actually an ex-Nazi war criminal.

N.A.S.A. featuring The Date Farmers, OBEY & Stephan Doitschinoff

The collective known as N.A.S.A. (North America, South America) have the sickest line-up of artists, whether in the music or art arenas. Dig on these 3 fine examples.

The Essence-The Cure Coverband

The Netherlands brought forth one of the greatest Cure coverbands...that never was a Cure coverband. The Essence busted quietly onto the scene. Stepping in at the point in the Cure's career when they were struggling. They were just about to release some tragically pop albums. They were going to break up, for the first time and The Essence were about to save the day...for me, at least. I was head over hills in love with the Cure and their music. I was not prepared to be Cure-less. They were the Cure's doppelganger. The Essence picked up the flag, writing and performing the Cure's music...if the Cure had actually written and performed it, that is and marched dutifully onward.

Lowlife ex-Dead Neighbors

Smack dab in the middle of the 80's. It was a rough time to be a teenager, no longer living at home. Everything was new, different, everything was so fucked up. It was all over the top. All overkill. Plastic. Bright lights.
Bands like Joy Division, New Order, Cocteau Twins and Lowlife made it a wee bit easier to get through the night. They didn't sing about shiny, happy people. The didn't drone on about Pleasantville, boy-meets-girl, white picket fences or dancing the night away. Most of the time I didn't know what the hell they were singing about, I just knew that for the first time I felt something I never knew possible. Their music struck a deep cord within me, and still does to this day.
The Dead Neighbors were a Scottish psychobilly band. They went through some tough times as well. Members came and went. Brian Guthrie managed them, he was Robin Guthrie's brother. Yes, Cocteau Twins. Founding member of the Cocteau Twins, Will Heggie left their band. Some time later, thanks to Brian, Will joined up with Dead Neighbors. The band slowly evolved into what we now know as Lowlife. God bless Lowlife.
