SKEWVILLE: MYSTERY OF THE FLYING SNEAKERS
"Anyone who has ever been to New York and walked around Manhattan or any of the Burroughs would have seen a pair of wooden kicks hanging from a Con-Edison wire. Legendary street artist brothers Ad and Droo of SKEWVILLE fame are the creative minds behind these wooden-dogs...Dubbing their art 'next levelism', Skewville have gone on to hit the world's powerlines with their wooden kicks..in the words of Ad Deville Ad: they're not fake, they're just not real."

How To: DIY $10 Macro Light Tent
Jen's blog 'Picture Today' has an awesome DIY light tent...excellent for those indoor, close-up photos. She shows you how easy it is to make a light tent for under $10. Thanks to her tutorial, I just completed mine for free (I had all of the supplies & didn't need to purchase any). It's mad simple and it sure beats paying the 60+ bucks & having to deal with those butt-heads over at B&H.

Bertrand Goldberg's Prentice Women's Hospital Could Get Demo'd
Prentice Women’s Hospital
333 E. Superior St., Chicago
"This Bertrand Goldberg-designed hospital has been largely vacant since Northwestern Memorial Hospital relocated to a new structure in 2007. Ownership is expected to revert back to Northwestern University this year, when the last tenant moves out of the building. This concrete clover-leafed structure, which was built in 1975, would then likely be demolished for a new medical research facility. Although Goldberg’s organic architectural designs – such as this one – were widely influential, none of his Chicago works are protected by local landmark designation. This is the second consecutive listing of the hospital on the “Ten Most” list." Blurb was lifted from Landmarks Illinois

FRANK VIVAs 'EARTH DAY' COVERS THE NEW YORKER
Frank Viva graces the cover of the April 26th issue of The New Yorker magazine, titled 'Earth Day'. Frank's imagery pays homage to print-work of yesteryear, waxing nostalgic for the 50s & 60s. I'm now a serious fan of this man...thanks, Frank.

BRAINSTORMs 'SAILORS DELIGHT' POSTER
Brainstorm Print & Design hail from New Jersey and they've got a killer collection of work under their hats. Their work is humorous and on point. Not over conceptualized. Not uptight. I am absolutely flippin' out over their 'HELLO' print (these babies are sold as a 5-piece grouping). Brainstorm has taken something as lame & generic as a HELLO name tag and doodled the likenesses of 5 of the most important artists of all time.

I MET THE WALRUS: JOHN LENNON ANIMATED
I've just seen this animation on Current TV...stellar! After watching the Current TV episode I visited James Braithwaite's ('I Met The Walrus' co-animator) website...he's a God Damned genius.
"In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced him to do an interview. 38 years later, Levitan, director Josh Raskin and illustrators James Braithwaite and Alex Kurina have collaborated to create an animated short film using the original interview recording as the soundtrack. A spellbinding vessel for Lennon's boundless wit and timeless message, I Met the Walrus was nominated for the 2008 Academy Award for Animated Short and won the 2009 Emmy for 'New Approaches' (making it the first film to win an Emmy on behalf of the internet)."

SKYLINE PHOTOGRAPHIC TYPEFACE by LISA RIENERMANN
"Berlin based Lisa Rienermann created this typeface through photography of what many of us overlook – the graphic forms of buildings against sky. It’s a great example of a photographic typeface. As far as we can tell, all photos seem untouched. If that’s the case, this reflects some labor intensive hunting."

HOUSE INDUSTRIES: EAMES HOUSE BUILDING BLOCKS
From the extremely talented folks at House Industries, a great collection of prints, fonts & building blocks. There's also a small collection of Alexander Girard product.
"Tours of the Eames House and Studio require a sizable donation to the Eames Foundation, but you can bring the Case Study No. 8 house to the convenience of your coffee table or kids playroom for less cash than dinner for two at the local upscale chain restaurant. It’s a bargain when you consider that each set of 36 replenishable Michigan-grown basswood blocks represents 29 separate hand-pulled screen passes. In the true Eames spirit, your kids can create a ligneous yard sale on your living room rug while you're in deep conversation with your guests, then build this living landmark to demonstrate how you are properly introducing them to important bits of culture. And, as a whole, they take up much less room than those awkward and unsightly Montessori toys."
* 36 Alphabet Blocks (20 for the house, 16 for the studio)
* Blocks 1.75" (4.5 cm) square
* House 8.75" x 3.5" x 3.5" (22 cm x 8.9 cm x 8.9 cm)
* Studio 7" x 3.5" x 3.5" (17.8 cm x 8.9 cm x 8.9 cm)
* Made in the USA!
* Replenishable Michigan-grown, kiln-dried basswood.
* Printed with non-toxic, lead-free, child-safe inks.
* Release Date: May 1, 2010
* Each Set $150
