CODY HUDSON aka STRUGGLE INC X GROUP SHOW CHICAGO MAR 4th
Let there Be Geo...a group show
*featuring works by Cody Hudson aka Struggle Inc
Mar 4th-Apr 24th
619 S Wabash Ave
Chicago
312.369.8687
" 'Let there be Geo' takes a contemporary look at visual artists who use geometric form in their work. While geometric form is not a new phenomenon, geo forms are appearing in some of the most aesthetically progressive work being made today. The largest advocators of the use of geometric shapes began with Futurism and Cubism moving through the Op Art of the 60s and Neo-Geometric Conceptualism of the 80s. Predominantly cool and impersonal in approach, though often active with content, contemporary 21st century responses to geometric form employ a variety of styles and media from painting to video to photography and sculpture. The works in Let there be Geo explore today’s incarnation of geometric form. Exhibiting artists include Maya Hayuk, Cody Hudson (image credit), Barbara Kasten, Sam Prekop, Geoffrey Todd Smith, and Steven Husby among others."

BRAD & ANGELINA CALLING IT QUITS...WHO GETS THE BANKSY?!
So, according to every tabloid-rag & gossip television show out there...Brad and Angie are calling it quits. Really, who cares? The only thing that I am remotely concerned in is "who the fuck is gonna get the 2-million dollar Banksy painting Brad bought?!"
It's believed that Brangelina purchased the Banksy painting of 'the King of Pop' trying to lure 2 little kids into his house with a piece of candy.

Beginning with the year 1983, this volume depicts the rapid changes in styles in these early years as Melbourne’s graffiti changed from simple scrawls to intricate murals of astonishing complexity. Part visual encyclopedia and part social history, this compelling record details the events, spaces, materials, and folklore of what made up the lives of the early graffiti artists"

THE POST FAMILY X TYPEFACE MOVIE POSTER
The Post Family of Chicago offer 2 versions of the TYPEFACE movie poster for sale. The version shown here is a 2-color screen-print created by Rod Hunting and Chad Kouri of Chicago-based design group...The Post Family. Make sure you check this amazing Indie Doc centering on The Hamilton Wood Type Museum if it's playing in a city near you.
TYPEFACE: CHICAGO PREMIERE
TYPEFACE plays at Chicago's Gene Siskel Film Center, Jan 29th-Feb 4th.
"In TYPEFACE, handmade wooden type in an astonishing range of sizes and styles comes to life in new and unique combinations when seasoned craftsmen, the masters of an obsolete but beloved technology, throw open the treasure trove of the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum in the historic town of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, to contemporary artists and graphic designers. This exploration of the art of putting letters on a printed page from world-renowned Kartemquin Films (HOOP DREAMS) finds the human story in the preservation of the centuries-old printing process when artists of the digital age discover the tactile delight and limitless possibilities of working with the real rather than the virtual."

THE RUNAWAYS starring KRISTEN STEWART & DAKOTA FANNING
3-things I really dig!
1: Joan Jett...whether solo, with the Runaways or as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. What is one of the very best concerts I've ever seen? Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at the Aloha Stadium, Honolulu, Hawaii, 1981 or '82. I'll have you know that the Surf Punks, Foreigner & Charlie Daniels all played that same gig, too.
2: Kristen Stewart...yes, even in 'Twilight'! I sat through much pain while watching 'Twilight', just to geek out over Kristen. I crush hard for her because secretly I want her to hate me and make me feel like crap.
3: Dakota Fanning...I think I like Dakota so much because I think she straddles the fence, between sane and insane.
'The Runaways' premiers at 2010 Sundance Film Festival. This movie is set to release to the rest of us normal people this Spring 2010.

BIGNOISE FILMS: WHITEPOWER U.S.A.
Whoa! Hold your horses. Before you get all bent out of shape, I just want to link you to a very controversial Indie Doc from BigNoise Films, 'White Power USA'.
*My blog is neither for or against any movement and I NEVER condone the physical harming of any human being, ever. My goal is to make sure you have exposure to all sides of any argument. No matter how big or how small. If you pretend it doesn't exist, it only gets stronger. Watch the 28-minute version of White Power USA on Big Noise's site. They (Big Noise Films) have an amazing collection of human interest docs worth viewing. I personally favorite is the Latin King's flick.

MR. BRAINWASH: NEW PRINT. NEW SHOW
Stencil/ wheatpaste madman, Mr. Brainwash is crazy-busy these days...he's building up for his huge NYC gig 'ICONS' this February. How big is big, you say? Each of his Mondrian inspired, 8-color screen prints are on archival paper and hand finished, splashed with spraypaint, signed & numbered by MBW. He's even included his thumb print on the flipside...for that added bit of authenticity. The 36"x36" print drops January 20th.
